Meet noodle.

noodle research is the collective brainchild of Anna Lawton and Kevin Shane, two passionate researchers who first connected in India while working on an ambitious human-centered design project. Drawn together by their shared commitment to uncovering deep insights, they sought to create a research agency that would empower organizations to make informed, people-centered decisions. Less than a year after their initial meeting, serendipity brought them to Durham, NC, where they established noodle research.

noodle is where deep human understanding meets decisive strategic capability. Most agencies treat research as a series of static, episodic "one-offs" that end up stranded on an insight island. We don't believe in "the big reveal" at the end of a project. True innovation requires a continuous, dual-engine approach: translating deep, holistic social science into immediate, operational business strategy. Through the complementary expertise of our co-founders, we trade organizational risk and assumption for empathy and evidence.

The Complementing Pillars of noodle.

The noodle Loop in Action (Our Methodology)

We champion and facilitate a rigorous path from curiosity to capability. Our co-founders do not operate in silos, but rather our unique value lies in the continuous, collaborative intersection of Anthropology and Design across our disciplined five-step loop:

The Strategic Cost of the "Insight Island"

Stop paying the "Silo Tax."

Episodic learning is expensive.

When qualitative research is separated from strategic execution, organizations suffer:

  • Knowledge Silos: Your marketing team uncovers deep human insights that your product development team never sees.

  • Institutional Amnesia: The critical customer lessons of today are completely forgotten tomorrow.

  • The Silo Tax: Paying multiple times to answer the exact same questions across different departments.

By integrating anthropology and design under one roof, we close the loop. We ensure your research stays alive, breaking down internal friction and aligning your entire team around shared, actionable evidence.
